Las Vegas Ballpark has only been open for a season and a half, but it is already playing as the highest-scoring stadium in the Triple-A West. But you wouldn’t know it from the first two games of this series.
Tacoma won the opener on Thursday, 4-1, limiting Las Vegas to just five hits. On Friday the Rainiers made it two straight wins, taking a 6-3 decision despite being out-hit by the Aviators, 11-9.
Las Vegas has 16 hits through the first two games, and 14 of them have been singles. They had a pair of doubles on Thursday, and last night all 11 of their hits were singles.
We’ve seen just one home run over the first two games of this series, a line shot by Donovan Walton last night. The wind was strongly blowing in from right field on Thursday, but last night we had calm conditions.
The Rainiers pitching staff will continue to try to allow nothing but scattered singles in tonight’s game, which starts at 7:05.
