No need to discuss last night’s Rainiers game any further, so let’s jump in to the Week in Review:
On Monday we discussed the Seattle Mariners decision to go ahead and make the move at the catcher position, calling up Cal Raleigh.
In advance of the major league All-Star Game on Tuesday night, we identified the four former Tacoma Rainiers players who were chosen for the game.
Wednesday was a day off, of sorts, as the Rainiers flew home from Sugar Land, Texas.
Thursday’s post prepared us for the start of a long homestand here at Cheney Stadium.
On Friday the Mariners recalled outfielder Jarred Kelenic, despite him having just five at-bats in the previous ten days.
Saturday we took a look at Rainiers starting pitcher Darren McCaughan and his recent string of excellent starts.

RAINIERS DAILY
YESTERDAY: Salt Lake scored in only two innings, but it was a six-run fourth and a ten-run fifth as the Bees beat Tacoma on Saturday night, 16-4. The Bees had 12 hits – all of them in those two innings. Jake Gatewood hit a grand slam and drove in six runs, and Jo Adell had three hits including a three-run homer. Jose Marmolejos and Jake Hager each had two hits and a homer for Tacoma.
TODAY: Salt Lake (31-32) at Tacoma (33-29), 7:05.
OPPONENT AFFILIATION: Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim.
OPPOSING MANAGER: Lou Marson.
SEASON SERIES: Salt Lake leads, 9-6.

ROSTER MOVES: We expect some roster moves today.
HOT HITTERS: Jose Marmolejos is 21-for-39 (.538) during an 11-game hitting streak… Marmolejos has hit seven home runs with 16 RBI over his past ten games… despite being a left-handed batter, Marmolejos is hitting .586 with six homers in 29 at-bats against left-handed pitchers… Jantzen Witte has gone 21-for-58 (.362) over his last 17 games… Jake Hager has had nine of his last 11 hits go for extra bases (six doubles and three homers).
OPPONENT NEWS: Salt Lake lost three straight games to close its series against Sacramento, but was hot before that winning nine of 11 games… Jo Adell has a 13-game hitting streak, and he regained sole possession of the league home run lead when he hit his 19th last night… top prospect Brandon Marsh recently came off the injured list and has an eight-game hitting streak… Michael Stefanic has an eight-game hitting streak.
