Rainiers Homestand Continues With 7:05 Game Tonight

Going to just dive into the gameday info, as I am short on time today due to an appointment. Will attempt to provide some interesting content tomorrow!

RAINIERS DAILY

YESTERDAY: Salt Lake starter Brian Johnson tossed eight shutout innings as the Bees won on Sunday, 4-0. Tacoma had just three hits – all singles – and did not advance a runner past second base while getting shut out for the second time this season. The Rainiers had a great start by Ian McKinney, who lasted 6.1 innings and gave up one run while striking out ten. The Bees took the lead in the series, three games to two.

TODAY: Salt Lake (32-32) at Tacoma (33-30), 7:05.

OPPONENT AFFILIATION: Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim.

OPPOSING MANAGER: Lou Marson.

SEASON SERIES: Salt Lake leads, 10-6.

PITCHERS: LHP Packy Naughton (2-1, 4.40) at RHP Logan Verrett (4-2, 5.74)

Packy Naughton isn’t a criminal you meet while playing Grand Theft Auto – he’s a pretty good left-handed starting pitcher for the Salt Lake Bees.

ROSTER MOVES: Yesterday the Mariners placed outfielder Jake Fraley on the Covid list, and called up Tacoma’s Dillon Thomas. Infielder Donovan Walton joined the Mariners taxi squad so he can be immediately available as the team undergoes contact tracing. Tacoma added outfielder Kennie Taylor from Low-A Modesto for roster depth – he was with the Rainiers earlier this season and fit in just fine.

HOT HITTERS: Jose Marmolejos had his 11-game hitting streak come to an end yesterday. He went 21-for-39 (.538) during the streak… Marmolejos has hit seven home runs with 16 RBI over his past 11 games… despite being a left-handed batter, Marmolejos is hitting .531 with six homers in 32 at-bats against left-handed pitchers… Jantzen Witte has gone 22-for-61 (.361) over his last 18 games… Jake Hager has had nine of his last 12 hits go for extra bases (six doubles and three homers).

OPPONENT NEWS: Jo Adell had his 13-game hitting streak end yesterday… Adell leads the league in home runs (19) and RBI (56)… Jake Gatewood has become a problem for the Rainiers the last two games, hitting two homers and driving in nine runs over the weekend… Michael Stefanic has a nine-game hitting streak.

BROADCAST: All games will be broadcast free on a live audio stream which is available right here.

Unfortunately, there is no traditional terrestrial radio station carrying the games at this time.
