We will continue to update this page with the latest news as it pertains to Cheney Stadium events, Tacoma Rainiers and Tacoma Defiance games.

On May 4th, 2021 we announced that we would be able to expand Cheney Stadium capacity for the start of the 2021 season with designated COVID-19 Vaccinated Sections. You can find additional information on this release and what attending games in May of 2021 looks like here.



On Tuesday, June 30, Minor League Baseball announced the cancellation of the 2020 season. Stay up-to-date on Rainiers news via social media at @RainiersLand on Twitter, and Tacoma Rainiers on Facebook. On Wednesday, June 24, USL Championship announced a return to play beginning July 11. Tacoma Defiance has not yet announced their restructured regular season schedule. You will not be charged for any games that are canceled or are closed to the public. See below for more information regarding tickets.

I have tickets to Rainiers/Defiance games. Will I be charged for tickets to games that are canceled or played behind closed doors?

No. Single-game ticket buyers will be able to exchange tickets in simple and transparent ways.

Individual game tickets for Rainiers games purchased directly from Ticketmaster.com will be automatically refunded within the next 30 days. Ticket buyers do not need to take any action to receive their refund. Those who have already purchased individual game tickets from the Cheney Stadium box office can contact the box office directly at (253) 752-7707.

Do I have to exchange my ticket on or before the day of a scheduled game that is canceled or rescheduled?

No. Ticket exchanges will be honored at any time at the Cheney Stadium box office (hours of operation M – F 10am – 5pm). All exchanges are based on availability at the time of exchange.

Which games have been canceled or will be rescheduled for a later date?

The 2020 Minor League Baseball and Tacoma Rainiers season has been canceled.

USL Championship announced a restructured return of the season which is expected to begin on July 11. Tacoma Defiance will play their remaining 14 matches during the regular season, which is expected to conclude in early October before a 16-team playoff begins.

Is the We R Tacoma Team Store open?

The We R Tacoma Team Store is now open on Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. PT. The Team Store is also fulfilling online orders.

Have any non-game day events been canceled?

We will be handling non-game day events on a case-by-case basis.

Where can I find more information on COVID-19?

The Center for Disease Control and Prevention has information available about the latest on the coronavirus.

Is Cheney Stadium a COVID-19 Testing Site?

Yes, beginning December 17th, Cheney Stadium will be partnering with Discovery Health to offer COVID-19 testing to the public. Details and registration links can be found here. All those interested should register online and use the 19th Street entrance when they arrive at the Stadium.
